A small breed, the Alaskan Klee Kai has been created from bantam Alaskan Malamutes. Ranging in size from 4.5 to 9kg (10 to 20lb), it was formally recognized as a breed in 1997, with three categories: Toy, Miniature, and Standard. Though still rare, it is bred in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
